icons8-3-64.pngFAQ

  1. I’m based in Germany. What are my VAT considerations?
  2. Small Business VAT Exemption
  3. I’m based in an EU country other than Germany. What are my VAT considerations?
  4. What should I do if I believe VAT has been incorrectly applied?

1. I’m based in Germany. What are my VAT considerations?

If you are VAT registered in Germany, 19% VAT will be applied to the invoice for your services. Please ensure that you have provided us with a valid German VAT ID, including the ‘DE’ prefix.

2. Small Business VAT Exemption

The German VAT small business exemption, known as the "Kleinunternehmerregelung," eases the VAT burden on small businesses. To qualify, your business must have had a turnover lower than a specified threshold. Please consult with your tax advisor to determine if you qualify for this VAT exemption.

To inform us of your qualification for this exemption, please tick the ‘Small Business’ box on the portal and ensure that the ‘VAT identification’ box is unticked. This will ensure that we do not apply 19% German VAT to your invoices.

3. I’m based in an EU country other than Germany. What are my VAT considerations?

If you are VAT registered, you need to consider the reverse charge mechanism. The provision of cross-border services in the EU shifts the VAT responsibility to the service recipient. For any further questions, please consult your local tax advisor.

4. What should I do if I believe VAT has been incorrectly applied?

GYG prepares invoices based on the information you provide on the partner portal. Please ensure this information is always up-to-date, as GYG will not take responsibility for any incorrect information.
