Sponsored experience 101: application, booking and content

  • Community membership: You must be a part of the GetYourGuide creator community with your account Instagram or TikTok. Community application 101
  • Timeline:
    • The experience should not be more than 2 months away.
    • The experience should not be less than 2 weeks away, as we need at least 4 to 7 business days (no weekends) to review the application.
  • Multiple applications at the same time:

  • For your first sponsored experience, it is not possible to request more than one application at the same time you need to book, attend, deliver, and get the content confirmed before reapplying.
  • Maximum of 2 ongoing applications (before applying for the second one, the first application needs to be approved and you booked the activity).
  • The previous content needs to be completed and confirmed.

icons8-2-64.pngHow to Apply for a SE (Sponsored Experience)

Step 1: Check Requirements

  • Make sure you meet the requirements to apply for a Sponsored Experience.
  • You’ll need an active account on the Partner Portal and meet the view count requirements (more on that in Step 2).
  • Decide whether you’ll apply using TikTok or Instagramyou can switch platforms for each new application.

Step 2: Calculate Your Budget

Your budget is based on the total views from your last 5 reels.

  • If an activity exceeds your budget, you’ll have the option to cover the difference yourself by checking the corresponding box in the application form.
  • If you are travelling with a family, you can select this option in the application form.

Instagram:

  • Less than 10k views: €30 (€50 with virality)
  • 10k–25k views: €50 (€100 with virality)
  • 25k–50k views: €100 (€150 with virality)
  • 50k–100k views: €150 (€200 with virality)
  • 100k+ views: €200 (€250 with virality)

TikTok:

  • Less than 15k views: €30 (€50 with virality)
  • 15k–30k views: €50 (€100 with virality)
  • 30k–55k views: €100 (€150 with virality)
  • 55k–100k views: €150 (€200 with virality)
  • 100k+ views: €200 (€250 with virality)

Step 3: Find an Activity

Step 4: Apply via the Opportunities Page

  • Head to the Opportunities page and click Apply Now under Sponsored Experience.
  • Add the link to the GetYourGuide activity you’d like to attend.
  • Double-check all details before submitting your application.

Application Review

  • Reviews take 4 to 7 business days.
  • You can track your application status in the Creator Portal:
    • Active: Applications under review or approved.
    • Past: Completed or expired applications.
  • If you choose the wrong activity, reach out to Partner Support to cancel and reapply.

As soon as you apply for Sponsored Experience via the form in the Creator Portal, please see the status of your application in the new tab ‘Active.’ You can see the following statuses:

  1. Received: means our community manager received your application and will process it soon.
  2. Pending: means somebody from the community team has seen your application, and it goes through the review.

You will receive from us an email stating if you have been accepted or not and the reasons why.

Not accepted

Scenarios include:

  1. Not part of the Community: See Community application 101
  2. Experience is more than 2 months away: See application requirements
  3. Experience is less than 4 days away: See application requirements
  4. Content from previous activity not delivered: See content status workflow
  5. More than 2 applications ongoing: See application requirements
  6. Experience not accepted: See How to Apply for a SE (Sponsored Experience)
  7. Activity chosen is restricted. See Sponsored Experience Restrictions.

Accepted:

  1. You will receive an email with all instructions and voucher.
  2. These details will also be available on your creator portal under the section "Active".
  3. Please proceed to the booking instructions
  4. Voucher amount: Higher amount vouchers are not possible. Use the one received or reapply when you have higher views on your reels.

  1. Booking limit: 

    Option 1: Make two separate bookings for two different experiences (one ticket for each).
    Option 2: Book two tickets for the same experience (one for yourself and one for a plus one).

    If you are travelling as a family you can book more than 2 tickets, however this must be selected in the application form. See How to apply. 

  2. Partial voucher coverage: If the voucher covers only part of the value, you need to cover the remaining amount.
  3. Activity timing: Must be no more than 2 months away from the confirmation email.
  4. Camera accessibility: Ensure the activity allows for camera access. Check the description or contact customer care if needed.
  5. Restricted tours:
    • Hop-on, hop-off bus tours: We prioritise unique experiences over typical tourist spots.
    • Zoo or animal activities: No touching, feeding, petting, riding, or selfies with wild animals allowed. Performances involving animals are prohibited.
    • SeaWorld and SeaLife: These locations are off-limits.
    • Night tours and shows: Excluded due to potential content quality issues.
    • Dolphin and whale watching: Not guaranteed content creation.
    • Natural phenomena: Activities like Northern Lights are not allowed, as they are not guaranteed.
    • Remote destinations with small inventory: We focus on popular revenue-generating locations.
    • Sensitive locations: Activities in places like concentration camps.
    • Sim cards: Ineligible as they aren't experiential.
    • Passes, transfers, museum entry: These do not align with our unique experience focus.
    • Airport transfers and lounges.
    • Thermal resorts, baths, wellness, and spas: Filming usually isn't allowed; or it might make others uncomfortable.
    • No activities with guns and/or shooting.
    • Food tours: Ensure the tour is unique and offers an unforgettable experience. Avoid commercial or chain restaurants like the Hard Rock Cafe.

  1. To redeem your voucher code for your sponsored experience:

    • Use the GetYourGuide App: The voucher code can only be redeemed via the GetYourGuide app. If you haven’t already, download the app from your device’s app store.
    • Select Your Approved Experience: Make sure to select the pre approved experience (be mindful of our restrictions). Add it to your cart.
    • Checkout: Enter your Personal details and select the following option for "Order Summary".
    • Enter the Voucher Code: At the bottom, right above the "Subtotal", you will see “Enter gift or promo code.“ Input the 12-digit code provided to you here, click on "Redeem."
    • Note on Usage: Remember, the voucher code is valid for a single use only. Ensure all details of your booking are correct before finalising.
    • Complete the Booking: Once the voucher code is applied, you should see a discount or credit applied to your total. Finalise the booking by completing the remaining steps.

Booked the wrong experience? Need to cancel or make changes? Or has the activity been canceled? Here’s what to do:

  1. Contact Customer Care: Reach out to Customer Care  to process any cancellations or changes to your bookings.
  2. Let Us Know: If you’ve booked the wrong experience or need to cancel, notify us so we can cancel the application.
  3. Reapply for a Sponsored Experience (SE): Once your cancellation is confirmed, you can reapply for the correct experience. Need help? Check out the "How to Apply for a SE (Sponsored Experience)" guide for step-by-step instructions.

As part of your sponsored experience with GetYourGuide, you are required to submit specific content to showcase your activity. 

  • Content must be uploaded within 14 days following the activity date
  • The content required is 1 reel or Tiktok video (depending on your application).
  • Captions must include:
    • @getyourguide
    • @getyourguidecommunity
    • #getyourguidecommunity
    • #getyourguide
  • The content should primarily focus on the activity and GetYourGuide.
  • Restricted tours are not eligible for this program.
  • Be mindful of any country-specific requirements that may apply.
  • You can request to postpone the content in case of need but no more than 30 days.

  1. Log in to your creator portal
  2. Go to the Opportunities page
  3. Select the "Active" Section
  4. Make sure to select the correct application.
  5. Click on 'Upload'
  6. Upload the link to your reel.
  7. Submit your content for review.

  • Waiting for content
    Once you apply for the sponsored experience, the status of your submission will be set to "Waiting for Content." The system will retrieve your travel date and expect the content to be submitted within 14 days following your travel. You must upload the required content link on the Opportunities page under the "Active" section. See Content requirements
  • Content in review
    After uploading, the status will change to "Content in Review."
    Our team will review your submission within the next 7 working days.
  • Content received
    If your content meets all requirements, the status will change to "Content Received."

  • Content overdue
    If you exceed the 14-day submission window, the status will change to "Content Overdue," and you will receive a reminder to submit your content.

  • Content review
    If your content does not meet the requirements, you will receive an email detailing the necessary changes.
    The status will revert to "Content Review," and you will be required to implement the changes within 3 days.

  • Canceled
    If the required changes are not made within the specified timeframe, the status will change to "Canceled."
    You will be eligible to apply for another sponsored experience only after the pending deliverable have been successfully submitted.
    To reactivate your submission, contact support by replying to the email you received, including the link to your content.

  • As soon as all deliverables are applied, it will move to the tab 'Past'.
